PeepingMoon Exclusive - It’s not a regular show where you come once a week, sit in an AC studio, give comments and go: Rohit Shetty on Khatron Ke Khiladi, thanks fans for putting him in same group as Big B's KBC & Salman's Bigg Boss

Rohit Shetty is back with his highly-awaited stunt based reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi 12. The show has been shot in Cape Town, South Africa with TV celebs, influencers and choreographers as contestants. PeepingMoon’s Ankita Bhalla caught up with the ace filmmaker in Cape Town in an exclusive interview where he spoke about what makes Khatron Ke Khiladi a well-loved and popular show on TV and also what keeps him motivated in coming back and hosting the show every year. Rohit said that he felt extremely lucky seeing that he and his show is compared to Amitabh Bachchan’s KBC and Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss where the host is the face of the series and is synonymous with its popularity.

Speaking about the USP of Khatron Ke Khildi, Rohit said, “It’s not taxing, obviously there is a lot of hard work, it’s not a regular show where you come once a week, sit in an AC studio for 8-9 hrs, give comments and go back. It’s a difficult show and that makes it different from the rest as well. It is the only show which is done by us in no other language or no other city or state does it or any other channel is doing a replica of it. You may see a lot of dance shows or many comedy shows, you will not see a Khatron Ke Khiladi elsewhere because it is not an easy show at all and that’s what keeps me going and secondly the love of the audience that we get because of our unique format and I take it as a responsibility because of the love we get for the show from the fans. Whenever it is telecasted it is the highest rated show ever whenever it comes, so I take it as a responsibility that they are giving me so much love then I must ensure that I give back in return and work hard for the show.

When Rohit was quizzed that on TV there are only three shows which are synonymous with their hosts that is Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati, Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss and he with Khatron Ke Khiladi, the filmmaker said, “I take it as a responsibility and feel I am extremely lucky as I am just a director and they are star but still people love me as the host. All I can do is work hard every year and bring something new and not take their love for granted. As you said there are three shows Mr Bachchan’s KBC, Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss and this is one show where people say is synonymous with Rohit Shetty.”

Talking about what keeps him motivated after hosting the show for the seventh time, Rohit said, “I love doing action that is my first love, I wanted to do it but wanted to change the format a bit and we did that and now that’s history. This is the seventh season. That is how it should be if you’re judging the show or if you’re the face of the show, at least you should be well-equipped or should know the stunt or have the expertise and performed the stunt then it is fun otherwise it makes no sense in hosting a show like this.”
