Catching Don is proving to be tougher than expected. Farhan Akhtar's long-gestating ‘Don 3,’ starring Ranveer Singh and Kriti Sanon, has now been officially removed from the 2025 production calendar. Slated to go on the floors in October, the action entertainer will now begin filming in January 2026, marking yet another setback in its prolonged development journey.
PeepingMoon.com has exclusively learned that Ranveer’s priority to Aditya Dhar’s highly anticipated ‘Dhurandhar’ has led to another delay in ‘Don 3.’ The actor is deeply invested in Dhar's mission-based action thriller and reportedly doesn't want to get into another project before it releases on December 5. Only about 10-15 days of shooting remains, which is expected to finish by the end of August or early September.
“Dhar is simultaneously shooting and editing ‘Dhurandhar’. He plans to conduct additional filming after the initial edit, which could extend over a month due to scheduling and logistical factors. The film is shaping up to be a visual action spectacle. Ranveer, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal are all fully committed to Dhar’s vision and are accommodating his scheduling needs. Both Ranveer and Aditya are keen on delivering something truly ambitious with ‘Dhurandhar’ and don’t want any distractions,” a source close to the development said.
In addition to Ranveer's commitment to ‘Dhurandhar,’ the packed release calendar of the key ‘Don 3’ team in the November-December window has also influenced the production delay. Farhan Akhtar’s war drama ‘120 Bahadur’ is scheduled to release on November 21, while Kriti Sanon’s romantic drama ‘Tere Ishk Mein,’ co-starring Dhanush and directed by Aanand L. Rai, is set for a November 28 release. With all three principal players gearing up for back-to-back promotional campaigns, starting ‘Don 3’ as previously scheduled became unfeasible.
The postponement of ‘Don 3’ has also affected Ranveer’s other projects, notably a zombie action thriller directed by ‘Scam 1992’ co-director Jai Mehta. The ambitious VFX-heavy film was initially slated to roll early next year but has now been pushed to mid-2026 to accommodate the revised ‘Don 3’ timeline. This large-scale, one-of-its-kind film is expected to be announced in the coming month.
