Storyline
Set in the tense aftermath of the 1999 IC-814 hijacking and the 2001 Parliament attack, ‘Dhurandhar’ follows India’s intelligence apparatus as it rushes to prevent another looming terror strike. IB Chief Ajay Sanyal (R. Madhavan) deploys undercover agent Hamza Ali Mazhari (Ranveer Singh) on a deep-cover mission into Lyari, a volatile maze of gangs, political syndicates and ISI-backed operatives. To penetrate the network, Hamza must win the confidence of notorious gangster Rehman Dakait (Akshaye Khanna) and get close to the ruthless ISI officer Major Iqbal (Arjun Rampal). Meanwhile, SP Chaudhry Aslam Khan (Sanjay Dutt) intensifies the crackdown on Lyari’s criminal empire. Operating under a fabricated identity, Hamza faces betrayal, shifting alliances and constant danger as he races to dismantle a terror plot before it erupts into another national crisis.
Acting
The film's acting is its most shining strength. Ranveer Singh doesn't just act the part of Hamza, he lives it. The fear, pain, determination, and exhaustion in his eyes makes every scene powerful. R. Madhavan's strong, incredibly believable leadership provides stability to the entire story. Arjun Rampal, as Major Iqbal, creates the deepest sense of calm with his composed demeanor, while Akshaye Khanna's Rehman the dacoit steals every scene with his micro-expressions. Wherever Sanjay Dutt appears, the screen automatically gains weight. Sara Arjun adds a touch of warmth to every scene with her innocent presence. There are several scenes without any dialogue yet they move you to your core.
Direction
Aditya Dhar has crafted ‘Dhurandhar’ with a balance of grandeur, realism, and emotional tension. The setup of the story, the layers of the underworld, and the way real events are woven into the narrative makes it not only grand but also incredibly believable. The slow-burn tension of the second half doesn't let you blink even once. And the biggest highlight is the Part 2 teaser shown at the end of the film that is truly mind-blowing. Looking at the scale, tone, and emotion, it seems the next part will be an even bigger explosion. The release date of March 19, 2026, will now make the wait unbearable.
Dialogues
“Ghayal hoon isiliye ghatak hoon” is just the beginning, the film has many powerful punchlines that resonate with the audience. The dialogues, depicting patriotism, betrayal, and the psychology of fear, prove to be the backbone of the film.
Music
The music and background score are the film’s soul. The BGM creates such a deep impact that it truly gives the film wings, it increases the adrenaline in the scenes where needed, and evokes emotion where it should touch the heart. As for the songs, the album is undoubtedly the Music Album of the Year. The tracks are already viral on the internet, and their impact is felt twice as strongly in the theater.
Overall
This film is a must-watch absolutely, without any ifs or buts.
