The much-awaited trailer of Daayra unfolds on 31st August, ahead of the film’s theatrical release on 18th September 2026. As the film inches closer to the big screen, National Award-winning filmmaker Meghna Gulzar puts pen to paper, and takes us behind the frame, sharing a heart-touching note on the journey that brought her to Daayra.

At the heart of her note is an idea that has long informed her storytelling, that life rarely exists in absolutes. With Daayra, Meghna takes that exploration a step further, describing the film as one that “not only explores that grey… it invades it… it attempts to dismantle it.”

She also reflects on the duality at the heart of the film and the casting of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, whose characters represent two contrasting forces navigating the same complicated landscape.

Her note traces a journey shaped by the places she has been, the stories she has told and the questions that have stayed with her along the way, eventually leading her to Daayra. Moving between memory, filmmaking, experience and exploration, Meghna offers audiences a rare window into the filmmaker behind the story.

Inspired by true events, Daayra is directed by Meghna Gulzar and stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles. Written by Yash Keswani, Sima Agarwal and Meghna Gulzar, the film is produced by Junglee Pictures and Dr. Jayantilal Gada (Pen Studios) and distributed by Pen Marudhar.
