Shweta Menon, a famous actress of the South Indian film industry, is in the headlines these days not because of any film or project, but because of a legal dispute. Serious allegations like spreading obscenity have been leveled against the actress, due to which a case has been registered against her.
This case has been registered at Ernakulam Central Police Station. Complainant Martin Menachery filed a petition in the court alleging that Shweta Menon gave obscene and nude scenes in films and advertisements for the greed of money, which are being spread on social media and adult websites. Some of Shweta's bold characters have also been made a part of this controversy. These include her films 'Rathinirvedham', 'Paleri Manikyam: A Midnight Murder Mystery' and 'Kalimannu'. Apart from this, questions have also been raised on her presence in a condom advertisement.
The complaint also states that these contents have a negative impact on the youth and it spreads a wrong message in the society. On the instructions of the court, the police have registered a case under the Obscenity Prohibition Act and the IT Act. Shweta Menon, who has been nominated for the National Award, has been in controversies before too. In 2013, the news of alleged misbehavior with her during a public event made a lot of headlines.
However, this time the case has been registered on the orders of the court, which has made it more sensitive. Now it remains to be seen how Shweta Menon defends herself in this case and in which direction the legal process goes. At present, no official statement has come from the actress.
