Following the massive commercial successes of ‘Stree 2’ and ‘Chhaava,’ Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films is gearing up for a transformative phase in its cinematic journey. In addition to its ever-expanding Horror-Comedy Universe, PeepingMoon.com has exclusively learned that the production company is now developing two bold new cinematic universes.
The first in the works is a Fantasy Universe rooted in ‘The Arabian Nights’ — a legendary collection of Middle Eastern and South Asian folklore. Maddock has been working on this ambitious universe for two years, crafting a trilogy of fantasy spectacles that reinterpret classic tales within an Indian cultural framework. The series is expected to commence with ‘Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves,’ followed by ‘Aladdin’s Wonderful Lamp’ and ‘Sinbad the Sailor.’ All these ancient stories will offer viewers fantasy epics on a scale rarely seen before in Indian cinema.
‘The Arabian Nights’ is celebrated for its diverse genres, weaving together elements of fantasy — genies, magic lamps, and mythical creatures — with profound explorations of love, betrayal, and revenge. Maddock’s vision is to blend rich storytelling with cutting-edge visual effects. Production on the first film is scheduled to begin next year.
In parallel, Maddock is also developing what it calls the Chiranjeevi Universe — a cinematic series of films based on immortal characters of Hindu mythology. Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Mahavatar’ will serve as the cornerstone of this mythological universe with plans underway to make more films on other immortal figures from Ramayana and Mahabharata at a later stage. Chiranjeevis are a group of beings who are believed to be alive on Earth even today, until the end of the current Kali Yuga.
The Chiranjeevi Universe is still in the conceptual stage. Its future is reportedly contingent on the box office performance of ‘Mahavatar,’ which chronicles the epic tale of Chiranjeevi Parashurama, a fierce warrior and one of the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu. The Amar Kaushik-directed film is set to go on floors at the end of this year, with a theatrical release locked for Christmas 2026.
