Now that’s a quality that can’t be faked and SoNand have heaps of it. Their faces never seem more animated, nor their smiles wider, than when they are in each other’s company. They almost seem like a couple of kids in a candy store! “Being around Anand makes me happy,” Sonam has gushed and it’s there to see.

Back in 2013, way before Anand appeared on the scene, Sonam had opened up about being an extremely loyal and a giving person. “I don't need a tall, dark and handsome man, but he needs to be principled and honest, who knows the difference between right and wrong. My consistent breaking point in relationships is that I expect him to be an idealistic person. That's why I have always been the one breaking my relationships.” The fact that she will soon wed Anand is ample proof of him living up to her lofty ideals.

Both have a strong individualistic streak that sees them stand out from the conventional (read: posh but boring), crowd. It shows in their fashion sense as well. Sonam believes “You should only dress up for yourself, and look good for yourself. Getting pressured is incorrect. If I wear clothes and make-up, it’s only for myself. If one day I have to wear my pyjamas and leave home, I will. Others’ validation is not important at all.” Anand, by the looks of it, is clearly on the same wavelength.

The two are undoubtedly travelers; not tourists. Images of them holidaying in the US, London or Paris show them out on the streets, whether cycling, shopping, mingling with locals or partying with friends. Sonam is fond of quoting Robert Louis Stevenson – “I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move.” And she has her best travel mate always by her side.
