Lakme Fashion Week 2024 day 3: Dreamy dresses and layered looks

Kickstarting day 3 of Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI at Jio World Convention Centre was Aikeyah by Isha Dhingra with her collection called For Dreamers that included her signature rose motif. The ensembles were dominated with the intricacy of hand embroidery, while sheer layers added to the beauty of the detail craftmanship.

The showstopper was Kalki Koechlin in a gleaming, gold corset topped with a glittering, giant, faux collar, while the grey, sheer, innovatively, draped, layer over a heavily textured skirt, was truly eye-catching.

Next in line was the Esse label by Sahib and Sunayana with their collection titled February 30. Yes, the unrealistic date formed the core of the collection’s message. On view was a canvas of tapestry, loyal to indigenous fabrics and Indian crafts techniques. Cropped jackets, cutout jumpsuits, deconstructed pantsuits and blazer dresses were showcased. The fabrics included a mélange of acetate silk chiffon (leather-looking chiffon), cotton-treated denim, Bemberg silk, vegan leather, mesh and reflective taffeta.

The third showcase was by Shahin Mannan with her collection called Unapologetic. The colour choice was unconventional with intricate patterns and amazing detailing. The clothes made some style statements, while the vibrant skirt looked ideal for a striking sartorial impression. Also catching the eye was the intricately embellished jacket, the stylish, double-breasted, blazer dress with accented sleeves, boxy waistcoats, long pencil skirts and comfy shirt.
