Alia Bhatt has locked her next production venture. Following the critical reception of ‘Darlings’ and the poorly received ‘Jigra,’ Alia is producing a high-concept young adult film for Amazon Prime Video under her Eternal Sunshine Pictures banner in partnership with Chalkboard Entertainment which backed critically acclaimed films like ‘Gulmohar,’ ‘Jaadugar,’ and ‘The Mehta Boys.’ The yet-untitled film will be directed by Sreeti Mukerji, marking her directorial debut after assisting Ayan Mukerji on ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ and ‘Brahmastra’.
PeepingMoon.com has learned this will be a coming-of-age drama much like ‘Wake Up Sid’ told from a girls’ perspective. It will be set against the vibrant backdrop of an Indian college campus and feature mostly fresh, young actors. Shooting will commence in October. This marks Alia’s first feature-film collaboration with Amazon Prime Video and her second with the platform following her role as executive producer on Richie Mehta’s critically lauded crime drama series ‘Poacher.’
Alia turned producer with Netflix’s 2022 film ‘Darlings’. She is also producing the screen adaptation of Manju Kapur’s novel, ‘Difficult Daughters,’ to be directed by her mother, Soni Razdan. Simultaneously, she stars alongside husband Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ‘Love and War’ which wraps production by December and is looking at a theatrical release in June 2026. She is expected to do Maddock Films’ horror-comedy ‘Chamunda’ in 2026 and is in discussions with ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ director Nag Ashwin for a female-led, high-concept project.
