Actor Dhanush found himself entangled in a paternity lawsuit initiated by an elderly couple some years back. Kathiresan and his wife, residents of Melur, Madurai, lodged a claim asserting Dhanush as their long-lost son, alleging he departed home during his 11th grade to pursue an acting career. The couple demanded a monthly support of Rs 65,000 from the actor.

The Chennai High Court rejected the couple's case from the Melur Court after Dhanush's legal team issued a response. Karthiresan alleged that the actor utilized counterfeit documents to dismiss the case and subsequently filed a petition in the Madurai High Court.
