Filmmaker Hansal Mehta reviews Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki: It gave me what I miss at the movies

Renowned filmmaker Hansal Mehta recently went on to express his views about the Shah Rukh Khan led and Rajkumar Hirani’s directorial Dunki which released earlier this month. The filmmaker went on to say that he loved the film despite it not being ‘perfect’ and added that he thoroughly enjoyed watching it.

He also appreciated Shah Rukh’s character and said that he doesn’t want to overanalyze or overthink about the film adding that it’s the ‘perfect film to end the year.’

As he took to his Twitter handle to share the same, the post read, "I really enjoyed #Dunki. Not perfect but so what. It’s perfectly fine. It gave me what I miss at the movies. It was nostalgic, heartfelt, simple and an ode to what our films once used to be. Not a film I want to overanalyse or overthink. Give me a Rajkumar Hirani film any day. Nice to end the year with  Shah Rukh Khan tugging at your heart strings, looking into her eyes with love and playing a softie. Lovely ensemble and an enduring charm pervades the film which is not a drama, not a comedy, not a tragedy and not a thriller. It is a Rajkumar Hirani film all the way. Go watch it and decide for yourself."

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Dunki had its worldwide release on December 22 and featured Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, Boman Irani and Anil Grover alongside Shah Rukh. It focused on the illegal migrants who opt for dangerous routes to reach first world countries in hope of having better lifestyle and opportunities.
