Happy Birthday Anushka Sharma: Why we can’t stop crushing on this fearless femme

Anushka Sharma is a role model in so many ways. Beautiful, brainy and successful, she marches to her own beat. Her competition is with herself, which means she steers well clear of catfights and insecurity. Not the fake, air-kissing type, she tells it as she sees it – and manages to not ruffle too many feathers either! Within a fairly short span of time she has already made waves with the brave choices of her film production house. She tied the knot with beau Virat Kohli while at the top of game and the film offers are still flowing in. Naturally, she is the girl every girl wants to be!

Shah Rukh revealed that at the beginning of the shoot for her debut film, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, she actually went up to him and told him, ‘You can’t act’. Luckily, SRK took it in the right spirit! On the contrary, he was full of admiration for her attitude and the way she would walk the talk.

She made a boy into a man. Husband Virat Kohli admits, “Ever since the lady has come into my life, she’s taught me a lot of things…She’s taught me how to be more patient and taught me how to utilise the position I am in to the fullest… I love that she’s honest and always caring…She’s been with me throughout and we have a great understanding. She’s improved me as a person.”

When Karan Johar teased her that she is deaf in one ear and has to come closer to hear what you are saying, she let out the truth – “I am not deaf, I just tune out when things get boring, and each time I hear one word that perks up my interest I have to lean back in to find out what people are talking about!”

She isn’t afraid to bring up inconvenient truths. Remember how she pointed out, “Men can age, but they can still work, they can still be heroes... and they're still amazing and cool. And I'm fine with that. But women have to be young because they have to be desirable …Like other than your beauty and your nakhra, is there anything else you're bringing to the film?”

Anushka was equally blunt declaring, “If I'm doing a movie in which my role is going to be a little longer than the [lead] guy, I know for a fact none of the guys are going to do it... they won't do it.” None of the leading men of today would dare contest that!
