Akshay Kumar's big explosion Laxmi, Abhishek Bachchan's Ludo to Rajkummar Rao's Chhalaang: List of OTT releases this festive week!

Diwali is around the corner and normally, patrons of cinema would have been queued up outside theatres to catch up on their weekly dose of entertainment. With the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, the normal has definitely changed. As theatres are resuming operations steadily after a major setback, the digital platform has come to the audience's rescue. With a promise to provide wholesome entertainment this Diwali, these 13 films are all set to premiere in the coming days.

Starting the Diwali week, Akshay Kumar is ready for the big explosion with his horror-comedy Laxmii. On the other hand, Rajkummar Rao will be taking us on an unforgettable journey in Chhalaang. While Anurag Basu's multi-starrer Ludo has piqued everyone's interest, Bobby Deol will introduce the audience to the second chapter of Aashram.

Here are the 13 OTT releases this festive season:

1. Laxmii:

Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani's horror-comedy Laxmii is directed by Raghava Lawrence. A Hindi remake of the Tamil superhit film Kanchana, Laxmii will premiere on Disney+Hotstar on November 9, 2020. The film is produced by Shabinaa Khan and Tusshar Kapoor. 

2. Ludo:

Directed by Anurag Basu, Ludo stars Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohit Saraf, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Pearle Maaney, Inayat Verma, Asha Negi and Shalini Vats. Ludo is an amalgamation of 4 stories that are tied together by unavoidable circumstances and coincidences that will make it a journey that nobody can miss. Ludo will release on Netflix on November 12. 

3. Chhalaang:

Produced by Ajay Devgn, Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, Chhalaang stars Rajkummar Rao with Nushrratt Bharuccha, Saurabh Shukla, Satish Kaushik, Zeeshan Ayyub, Ila Arun and Jatin Sarna. The film, directed by Hansal Mehta, is about a PT teacher named Montu who faces competition from a new PT teacher who has excelled in areas where Montu falters.  The film will release on November 13 on Amazon Prime Video.

4. Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari:

Directed by Abhishek Sharma, Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari revolves around Suraj, whose family is looking out for a perfect bride for him. However, he learns that a bride’s family has appointed Mangal Rane, a detective who investigates potential grooms. As Suraj plans revenge, Mangal makes his life hell. The film stars Manoj Bajpayee, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Diljit Dosanjh in the lead. Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari will release on November 13. 

5. Aashram Chapter 2:

After playing the role of Baba Nirala of Kashipur in Aashram, Bobby Deol is all set to reprise it in the series' second part. Directed by Prakash Jha, Aashram Chapter 2 will revolve around self-proclaimed Godmen and their unknown dark crimes that are hidden under the wrapping of spirituality. The series is releasing on November 11 on MX Player. 

6. Mum Bhai:

Starring Sikander Kher, Sandeepa Dhar, Priyank Sharma and Madhurima Roy among others in the lead, Ekta Kapoor's Mum Bhai revolves around the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) which is trying to track down the gangsters of the city. Set in '80s and '90s, the ALT Balaji and ZEE5 series will delve into the political-underworld nexus. It will release on November 12. 

7. Young Sheldon Season 4 

The fourth season of Young Sheldon will follow the life of Young Sheldon Cooper and will pick up from where the third season ended. Cooper is now a graduate from high school and the upcoming season will focus on his relationship with his friends and family. The series has premiered on Amazon Prime Video. 

8. Becoming You

Becoming You tells the tale of how the first 2000 days on earth shape the rest of our lives. Told through the eyes of over 100 children around the world, every episode will offer a thought-provoking look at how children learn to think, speak and move. The series will premiere on November 13 on Apple TV. 

9. The Crown Season 4 

The fourth season of the show that focuses on the life of the UK's royal family will premiere on November 15 on Netflix. The period drama will mark the return of Olivia Colman as monarch Queen Elizabeth II. The show also stars Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, Emma Corrin as Princess Diana and Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher.

10. Raat Baaki Hai

Raat Baaki Hai starring Rahul Dev, Anuup Sonii and Paoli Dam is based on Atul Satya’s popular play Ballygunje-1990. The thriller is about two estranged lovers who meet each other after 12 years under mysterious circumstances. Raat Baaki Hai will release on ZEE5 on November 20. 

11. Shawn Mendes: In Wonder

Promising to be a musical treat, Shawn Mendes: In Wonder sheds light on Shawn Mendes' stardom, relationships and future projects. It will release on November 23 on Netflix. 

12. Dark 7 White 

Starring Sumeet Vyas, Nidhi Singh and Jatin Sarna, Dark 7 White is a political murder mystery that has a quirky narration mixed with dark humour. Sumeet plays the role of a politician with a dark past. The series will release on ALT Balaji and ZEE5 on November 24.

13: Naxalbari 

Starring Rajeev Khandelwal, Tina Dutta, Sreejita Dey and Aamir Ali in prominent roles, ZEE5's Naxalbari is about a cop who tries to stop the Naxal uprising in Gadchiroli. The series will release on November 28.
