Amanda Bynes admitted to hospital after found roaming naked and alone in Los Angeles, put on 72-hour psychiatric hold

Amanda Bynes has been put on psychiatric hold after she was found roaming the streets of Los Angeles alone and naked, as per reports. The incident occurred on Sunday morning. An online portal reported an eyewitness who said that Amanda waved a car down, telling the driver she was coming down from a psychotic episode and dialed 911 herself. She was taken to a nearby police station where a mental health team determined she needed to be placed on a 5150 psych hold. Typically a psychiatric hold only lasts 72 hours but it can be extended.

As per reports, Amanda was not hurt at all during the ordeal and is currently in hospital where she will be receiving care. A source close to the incident told a news channel that Amanda ‘hasn’t been in contact with her family for quite some time.’ While her longtime attorney did not comment on the matter, her ex-fiance Paul Michael said she has been off her medicines reportedly.

The incident occurred almost one year to the day when Amanda’s 9-year conservatorship was officially terminated. Amanda’s mother was her conservator starting back in 2013 when the actress was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was having issues with her mental health. She submitted a petition to dissolve the arrangement which was supported by her parents, Lynn and Rick Bynes. Besides this, a series of bizarre incidents further fuelled the situation when Amanda set her neighbour’s driveway on fire, almost engulfing her dog in flames and hence was sent to a psychiatric ward for treatment.

As per media reports, she was scheduled to attend the 90s Con in Connecticut this weekend. However, she cancelled it due to health-related issues. Amanda began her career as a child actor in Nickelodeon’s comedy series All That (1996-2000) and followed it up with her breakthrough show The Amanda Show (1999-2002). She also appeared in TV shows like All That, What I Like About You and Family Guy. She also featured in films like Big Fat Liar, What a Girl Wants, Love Wrecked, Sydney White and Easy A. She took a step back from showbiz and announced an indefinite hiatus from acting in 2010.
