Watch: Paul Rudd can't contain his excitement after joining 'Ghostbusters' reboot

Paul Rudd is taking the call from Ghostbusters and he's really excited about that. Maybe a little too excited. He'll reportedly be appearing alongside original stars Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver in what is shaping up to be a pretty exciting sequel.

The Ant-Man star shot a selfie video outside the famed Ghostbusters firehouse announcing his own casting in director Jason Reitman's reboot. "When I heard they are going to call me, as you can imagine, I nearly slimed myself," said Paul, 50. "I can’t wait to join the cast, this fall for Ghostbusters ". He added, "In fact I’m sliming myself right now".

The actor only described the role as a 'young, semi-young' character. Reports stated Paul will play a small town teacher in the film, a continuation of the franchise that started with 1984's Ghostbusters and a 1989 sequel — produced and directed by Jason's father, Ivan Reitman.

“I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for Wet Hot American Summer at Sundance. I’m thrilled he’ll be joining this new chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe,” said the director.  The 2016 reboot won't factor into the new film. The new Ghostbusters will be released summer of 2020.
