PeepingMoon Exclusive: Ayushmann Khurrana and Junglee Pictures reunite for an Anees Bazmee comedy; Shooting commences in 2025

After several unsuccessful attempts in recent years, Ayushmann Khurrana and Anees Bazmee are finally collaborating. Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Ayushmann is teaming up with Bazmee for a comedy entertainer set to be produced by Junglee Pictures.

The yet-untitled project is believed to be an out-and-out comedy with romantic undertones, featuring Ayushmann in another quirky character role he's popularly known for. Although it's yet unclear if it's a horror comedy as reported in the media, the double-role movie previously discussed with Shahid Kapoor, or an entirely different project, sources ensure that it's a typical Anees Bazmee entertainer packed with humor, romance, and drama.

Ayushmann reunites with Junglee Pictures for what would mark his fourth project with the company, following their three successful partnerships on critically and commercially successful movies—Bareilly Ki Barfi, Badhaai Ho, and Doctor G. The combination of these two hit forces with a top-tier filmmaker known for his blockbuster comedy movies only heightens the anticipation for this project, and we cannot wait to see how it unfolds on screen.

The film is presently in the writing stage and aims to begin production sometime in 2025. Ayushmann and Bazmee are expected to move to this project only after finishing their prior commitments. The Singh Is King director is currently filming for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 with Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, Triptii Dimri, and Madhuri Dixit, and shortly after its release on Diwali weekend this year, he will start shooting for No Entry 2, which is now happening with Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Arjun Kapoor taking over the roles played by Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, and Fardeen Khan in the original.

Ayushmann Khurrana, meanwhile, has committed to four projects. The first is a spy comedy with Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, set to go on floors around July. He is then expected to shoot for Maddock Films’ horror comedy, Vampires of Vijay Nagar, with Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and will follow that up with the long-awaited Sourav Ganguly biopic, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. Bazmee and Junglee Pictures’ film is supposed to be shot somewhere between these projects, though the exact shooting timelines are still being finalized. Stay tuned for more updates!
