PeepingMoon Exclusive: Aamir Khan turns Don, while nephew Imran Khan plays a spy in his comeback film; Details revealed

Peepingmoon.com exclusively revealed yesterday that Imran Khan is ending his nine-year acting hiatus with Aamir Khan’s upcoming production, directed by Vir Das. Imran will star in and as Happy Patel in what will mark his much-awaited comeback to movies after his disappearance in 2015. Now, we have found some further details about this exciting project, slated for a theatrical release later this year.

Industry sources have informed us that Aamir will make a brief cameo appearance in this movie, sharing the screen with his nephew for the first time. The Bollywood superstar is said to be playing the role of a Don, adding more thrill to the movie’s outrageous plot set in Goa. Aamir has already kicked off shooting and is expected to wrap up filming his portion today.

Happy Patel is said to be a satirical spy comedy, along the lines of the popular American film series, Austin Powers. “It’s a spy film with a dash of comic touch and explores an untapped and brand new terrain in Bollywood cinema. Imran will be playing a secret agent in this film, alongside Vir Das, who is also directing, writing, and co-producing it. This is a fun entertainer packed with comedy, action, drama, and lots of twists, much like their highly acclaimed black comedy, Delhi Belly,” an industry source told us, adding that Mithila Palkar (Little Things, Girl in the City, Karwaan), Sharib Hashmi (Filmistaan, The Family Man), and Mona Singh also play pivotal roles in this comic thriller. British singer Ash King, renowned for his songs in movies like Delhi 6, Bang Bang, and Drishyam, will also star, making his acting debut with this film.

Aamir Khan has frequently appeared in cameo roles in his production ventures, and he continues this tradition with Happy Patel as well. Prior to this, he featured in cameo appearances in Dhobi Ghat (2010), Delhi Belly (seen in a song), and Secret Superstar (2017), where he played a rockstar, Shakti Kumar. He was also supposed to feature in his latest production, Laapataa Ladies, but the role was eventually played by Ravi Kishan. Up next, he is rumoured to be doing cameo roles in Sunil Pandey’s Pritam Pyaare and Rajkumar Santoshi's Lahore 1947, starring Sunny Deol in the lead. On the work front, Aamir will next be seen in RS Prasanna’s Sitare Zameen Par, slated for release on the Christmas weekend this year.
