PeepingMoon Exclusive: Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan’s Zara Hatke Zara Bachke set for OTT release in May after nearly a year of its theatrical release

Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan’s box office sleeper hit from last year, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke is finally coming out on OTT. Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that the Laxman Utekar romantic comedy will premiere on Jio Cinema in mid-May, almost a year after its theatrical release on June 2, 2023.

The clarity on the streaming date for ZHZB comes on the heels of Jio Cinema announcing its new subscription offering, ‘JioCinema Premium’, starting at a market-defining Rs. 29 per month that will offer an ad-free experience for one device and a ‘Family’ plan at Rs. 89 per month, which offers the additional benefit of access on four simultaneous screens. Effective today, JioCinema Premium will include content from Peacock, HBO, Paramount, and Warner Bros. Discovery, in addition to top Bollywood movies and series. Its sports contents, including the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL), however, will remain available for free as part of the platform's ad-supported offering.

ZHZB was released in theaters on June 2nd last year, taking on the date of Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee’s Jawan after the latter was postponed to September 7. Although the movie initially opened poorly, the positive word of mouth and chartbuster songs helped it emerge as a success story, with approx. 88 crore at the box office. The film was supposed to premiere on JioCinema after eight weeks per norm, but the streaming platform suspiciously kept it on hold for months, leaving producers and audiences in the dark about its whereabouts. The makers are thrilled that it's finally coming out on OTT, reaching millions of audiences worldwide.

Jio Cinema has also launched four films and a web series today, coinciding with its announcement of cheap premium-tier plans. Jimmy Sheirgill, Lara Dutta, and Ashutosh Rana’s Pulwama attacks-based Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond has started streaming, alongside the four post-theatrical movies Yaariyaan 2, Oh My God 2, Dhak Dhak, and Shastry Virudh Shastry.
