Ace music composer and singer Wajid Khan breathed his last on June 1 this year. He was admitted to a hospital for heart and kidney ailments. However, succumbed to COVID-19 which he picked from his mother. Now, as the family members are yet to come to terms with the loss, his wife Kamalrukh Khan has been making some shocking statements regarding her relationship with Wajid's kin. After revealing that she was subjected to mental harassment by Wajid's family for not converting to Islam post marriage, Kamalrukh, in the latest interview said he had threatened to divorce her in 2014.

In her interview, she said Wajid was a wonderful man but wasn't strong-minded. "He was a wonderful man, a talented musician, but if there was one flaw in him, it was this: he wasn’t strong-minded. He could be easily influenced, especially in matters of faith. We used to fight about this, even after we had two kids. This was the narrative, day in and day out. The last straw was when he threatened to divorce me if I didn’t convert. This was in 2014," Kamalrukh told.

Kamalrukh revealed that their divorce was never finalised because Wajid was genuinely upset over what had happened between them. However, they were living separately since 2014. "He used to leave and stay at his mother’s house, sometimes for months on end. When he threatened to divorce me, I said ‘fine, let’s go ahead’. Even in court, I made my case about being under pressure to convert. His career was at stake, which is why this never came out in the public, but this had been going on since 2014,” Kamalrukh added. She said Wajid's last few days were very sad as he couldn't meet his family due to COVID-19.

In November, Kamalrukh shared her experience of living in an inter-faith marriage on Instagram.
