India Couture Week 2022: Glow with the flow at The Tree of Life by Rahul Mishra

Delightful designer Rahul Mishra has been making waves at the Paris Haute Couture Week and so, naturally, the Embassy of France in Delhi was the chosen venue for his show at India Couture Week, presented by FDCI (Fashion Design Council of India) in association with Lotus Make-up.

The Tree of Life was what he called his collection and, keeping with the name, you witnessed the shade as well as colours that took you down memory lane to trees that were worshipped and appreciated for their beauty and longevity.

It was a case of glow with the flow as models sashayed across in all their glory and grandeur. The Tree of Life reminded you of nature’s abundance, with every leaf transmuted to gold for a moment at the break of dawn. This and more vivid ones were articulated in the chic collection. On view were fields of poppies and a diverse wilderness taking over ancient architecture, rendered in intricately hand-embroidered surfaces.

Two and three-dimensional embroideries articulated the first flush of nature emerging on the surface of a body. Exquisitely embellished surfaces articulated scenes from dense forests. Metallics added another dimension to the brand’s signature handcraft. Featured were fabulous fabrics handwoven in villages, embroidered with hand for over 10,000 human hours and sewn to perfection for featherweight clothing despite the intricate surfaces.

Nice to note that the collection aimed to cultivate a circular economy for craft communities in India, with the core aim continuing to focus on grass-root empowerment and encouragement to the artisans that lovingly create the clothes.

And jewellery by Archana Aggarwal added to the allure.
