Vicky Kaushal was the initial choice for Rajkummar Rao's role in Stree; says he regrets the decision of letting it go

Vicky Kaushal, during his appearance on Neha Dhupia-hosted BFFs With Vogue Season 3 with Taapsee Pannu revealed that Amar Kaushik's 2018 directorial debut, Stree was offered to him before it went to Rajkummar Rao. He further added that he regrets the decision of letting the successful horror-comedy as he was busy shooting for Anurag Kashyap's Manmarziyaan with Taapsee.

Neha further probed and asked him as to whose role was he offered. But, before he could reply, Taapsee jokingly quipped, "Shraddha's", leaving everyone in splits.

Talking about Vicky, he is currently shooting for Sardar Udham Singh and a supernatural film with Bhumi Pednekar. He will soon begin shooting for Karan Johar's multi-star film Takht that co-stars Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh and Bhumi Pednekar in September this year. Vicky was last seen in Uri: The Surgical Strike which gave the much-needed boost to his career. Rumours were rife that the writers of Takht and Karan have rewritten Vicky's Aurangzeb's role in order to match that of Ranveer's character in the film. However, sources close to the film denied by saying there is no change in the character sketch.

Stree, a horror comedy featuring Rajkummar, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee became one of the highest grossers of 2018. With enormous commercial and critical acclaim, the makers of Stree have decided to come up with Stree 2 with the same cast as the first one. A source close to the film recently said, "It will happen next year. We are working on the script. There are few ideas for Stree 2. The expectations are high on Stree 2, so the team wants to give their best shot as we are not in a hurry to make it."
