Mowgli Legend of Jungle Hindi trailer: Abhishek’s Bagheera is fatherly, Kareena’s Kaa is lethal

The Hind trailer of Netflix’s Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle released on Sunday and it instantly took us back to our childhood. Every 90s kids favourite cartoon was the Japanese animation series Shonen Mowgli that aired on Doordarshan and had the catchiest title song ever composed Jungle Jungle Baat Chali Hai Pata Chala Hai by Gulzar and Vishal Bharadwaj. The film is directed by Andy Serkis and has our Bollywood stars giving the voice over. The film showcases the classic and well-known story of Mowgli based on Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book stories.

The two-and-a-half minute trailer gives us a sneak peek into the life in the jungle and the love, nurturing, training and friendship provided by animals to the man-cub Mowgli and his journey of finding out where he actually belongs. Mowgli is played by Rohan Chand in both English as well as Hindi versions of the film. Abhishek Bachchan plays Bagheera, Anil Kapoor Baloo, Madhuri Dixit as Nisha (the motherly wolf) and Kareena Kapoor Khan as Kaa in the film and Jackie Shroff is the menacing Shere Khan. Frieda Pinto who plays Messua in the English version has reprised her role in the Hindi version too.

Abhishek as Bagheera is really good as his concern for Mowgli really comes through. Anil as Baloo is ecstatic, euphoric as well as panicky all traits that Baloo expresses, but Kareena’s Kaa is lethal and enigmatic. Jackie impresses as the antagonist Shere Khan with his slow and menacing drawl.

Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle will be released on streaming giant Netflix on December 7 in Hindi. While the Hindi rendition of the film has voice-overs from Bollywood celebrities, the English version has been dubbed by stars such as Christian Bale (Bagheera), Benedict Cumberbatch (Shere Khan), Cate Blanchett (Kaa), Rohan Chand (Mowgli) and Matthew Rhys (Lockwood).
