Rajinikanth confirms contesting elections in Tamil Nadu, political party to be launched in January 2021

Putting an end to all speculations, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth finally announced his foray into politics. Known as Thalaiva, the veteran actor, on his Twitter account, confirmed that he will be contesting elections in Tamil Nadu. He further added that his political party will be launched in January 2021 and an announcement will be made on December 31. 

In his tweet, the superstar said, "In the upcoming Assembly elections, with the support of the people, we will win and form an honest, non-corrupt, transparent and secular government." Back in 2017, he announced, "My entry into politics is certain. This is the compulsion of the times. In the upcoming state Assembly polls, I will start my own political party, and contest in all the 234 constituencies in Tamil Nadu." Since then, there was no news regarding his political career.

Reportedly, Rajinikanth had a closed-door meeting with 32 leaders of his Rajini Makkal Mandram. “In today’s meeting district secretaries and I exchanged our views. They assured they would support me in whatever decision I take. I will take a decision as soon as possible,” he said according to a media agency.
