No NEPOTISM on this show, only talent could win you a Karan Johar debut!

Move over, talent hunts. Tentatively titled India’s Next Superstar or Ticket to Bollywood, the show is set to grab all eyeballs in January 2018, as Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty come together to judge the new talent hunt, which will search for talent from among lay people – no nepotism here, haha! Touted to be on the lines of India's Best Cinestars Ki Khoj, it will allow aspiring actors to display their acting, dancing, drama and comedy skills, and compete for the top prize… The winners, a boy and a girl, will hit the jackpot, bagging the chance to star in a Karan Johar film, which could be either a musical or a romcom.

Apparently, casting director Mukesh Chhabra will sieve through and select the talent that appears on the show.

Taking a leaf, of sorts, out of Bigg Boss, the contestants will stay together under one roof. They will also be assigned different tasks and will be rated for their acting skills. Pegged to be a daily show, the excitement will dial up on weekends when the gala rounds will be chiefly judged by Karan and Rohit Shetty. Ensuring high-interest levels will be the weekly visits by the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, who will appear as guest judges. Phew, we are sold already!

This show further cements Karan’s romance with the small screen. His Koffee with Karan, a celebrity-based talk show wherein he interviews actors, directors, producers, and other prominent members of the Hindi film industry, has been widely watched. The first season aired from 2004 while the fifth season commenced on the small screen in November 2016.

Since 2012, he has also served as a judge on the reality shows Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (with Madhuri Dixit and Remo D’Souza) and India’s Got Talent (with Malaika Arora Khan, Kirron Kher, and Farah Khan).
