The coronavirus pandemic in 2020 brought everything to a halt but the yearning of two hearts in love. Although several high-profile marriages were postponed for a more opportune moment next year, there were several celebs that went ahead and tied the knot in the times of corona. They ensured there were restricted numbers of invitees and covid-19 guidelines were followed as they resorted to intimate weddings in 2020.

Although these celeb weddings were not the usual ‘big fat Indian wedding’ fare with multiple receptions in different cities but in no terms were they average and ordinary. Here’s a look at all the celebs who took the ‘saat pheras’ and tied the knot this year.

One of the most eligible bachelors of India, Rana Daggubati got hitched to interior designer Miheeka Bajaj in Hyderabad on August 8, 2020. The three-day wedding festivities included Haldi, Mehendi and the main wedding. The wedding was a close knit family affair with only 40 guests present at the ceremony. The couple’s cross-cultural nuptials got all the attention. Their wedding during the pandemic was a remarkable affair. Keeping in mind the coronavirus social distancing mandates, only their immediate family members attended in person, including the groom’s cousin Naga Chaitanya and his wife Samantha Akkineni. The wedding was organized by Miheeka’s mother Bunty Bajaj, a renowned event designer and director of Krsala Jewels.

Kajal Agarwal-Gautam Kitchlu

Popular actress Kajal Agarwal tied the knot with businessman and entrepreneur Gautam Kitchlu on October 30, 2020 in Mumbai. The couple kept the ceremony a low-key affair with only family members and close friends in attendance. The Punjabi bride and the Kashmiri groom even had a Telugu wedding ritual called Jeelakarrabellam that was a tribute to their individual relationship with South India. They strictly followed the covid-19 protocols and had a very small wedding. They got all their guests tested and created a bubble for everyone who was a part of their celebration and the ones who could not attend were present virtually.

Nithiin-Shalini Kandukuri

Nithiin Reddy got married to Shalini Kandukuri at Hyderabad's Taj Faluknama Palace on July 26, 2020. Their wedding was also an intimate affair due to the coronavirus pandemic. They were earier supposed to get married in April, which was postponed due to the lockdown. They wore colour-coordinated outfits in red. Their wedding ceremonies included haldi, sangeet and mehendi followed by a South Indian wedding. Pawan Kalyan and screenwriter Trivikram Srinivas attended their pre-wedding festivities. Nithiin had announced his engagement with Shalini who was his longtime girlfriend on July 22, 2020, with an adorable picture from the ceremony on his social media.

Armaan Jain-Anissa Malhotra

Armaan Jain and Anissa Malhotra tied the knot much before the coronavirus lockdown crippled the nation and hence their wedding was a gala affair and rightly so since Armaan is Karisma Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor Khan-Ranbir Kapoor’s cousin. The wedding took place on February 3, 2020 in Mumbai and was a gala affair with the who’s who of Bollywood and business world in attendance. For the wedding, Armaan chose an ivory-coloured sherwani while Anissa looked resplendent in bridal red. Armaan’s sarbala was none-other-than Kareena’s and Saif Ali Khan’s adorable son Taimur.

Hardik Pandya – Natasa Stankovic

Amid the lockdown due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, India all-rounder Hardik Pandya got married to Serbian actress Natasa Stankovic. Hardik announced his marriage with Natasa on Instagram on May 31, 2020. He had also announced that the couple is expecting their first child. The couple since then has been blessed with a baby boy whom they have named Agastya.

Taher Shabbir-Akshita Gandhi

Naam Shabana actorTaher Shabbir tied the knot with international artist Akshita Gandhi this year as well. Taher and Akshita got engaged on August 18, 2020 and they married on November 18, 2020. Taher had started his career in entertainment in 2014 when he had portrayed the role of Viraj Singh Rathore in Star Plus’ show, Nisha Aur Uske Cousins, later he starred in Kareena Kapoor Khan’s and Saif Ali Khan’s film Kurbaann where he had a brief role. In 2016, he had made his Bollywood debut in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Fan and in 2017, the actor had portrayed the role of Jai in Naam Shabana.Taher portrayed the role of Danish Ali Beig in the movie Guilty. He will next be seen in ITI - Can You Solve Your Own Murder, featuring Vivek Anand Oberoi as Prabhu Singh and Rajeev Sen.

Sachet Tandon-Parampara Thakur

Music composer duo Sachet Tandon and Parampara Thakur tied the knot this year taking their professional bonding to a personal one. They got married on November 27, 2020. Their marriage came as a surprise for many but their fans were elated seeing the two gush about each other on separate Instagram posts. Sachet and Parampara have created several hit songs such as Psycho Saiyaan for Saaho, Bekhayali for Kabir Singh, Ghamand Kar and Tinak Tinak for Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Dilbara for Pati Patni Aur Woh and many more.

Priyanshu Painyuli – Vandana Joshi

Priyanshu Painyuli tied the knot with longtime girlfriend and TV actor Vandana Joshi in an intimate ceremony in Dehradun with only close friends and family in attendance. The wedding took place on November 26, 2020. They were supposed to get married earlier but coronavirus played spoilsport. Their wedding reception will most probably take place in Mumbai in the second week of December following all the safety precautions. Vandana has appeared in shows like Dil Se Diya Vachan and is a dancer and theatres actor as well.

Biswa Kalyan Rath-Sulagna Panigrahi

Stand-up comic Biswa Kalyan Rath tied the knot with actress Sulagna Panigrahi, who is best known for her performance in Murder 2, in an intimate ceremony on December 9, 2020. The wedding was supposedly an intimate ceremony. They shared photos from the wedding and reception on their Instagram. On their big day, Sulagna wore a red lehenga paired with a pastel blue dupatta while Biswa wore a cream-coloured sherwani. The actress wore a red saree for the reception while Biswa chose a blue suit.

Yuzvendra Chahal – Dhanashree Verma

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal tied the knot with choreographer Dhanashree Verma in an intimate ceremony on December 22, 2020. The ceremony took place at Gurugram's Karma Lake resort. Dhanashree and Yuzvendra shared pictures from their wedding on their Instagram handles. Dhanashree, for the wedding, opted for a Tarun Tahiliani red and maroon lehenga. She teamed it up with a statement choker, nath, mathapatti and bangles. Yuzvendra wore an off-white-golden sherwani with a red safa.
