Return To Hogwarts: Harry Potter author J.K Rowling to not participate in reunion, here's why

The much-awaited Harry Potter reunion is ready to stream on HBO and Amazon Prime Video (exclusively for the Indian audience) on January 1. The reunion special is titled Return To Hogwarts and actors like Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and many others, reunited to look back at priceless moments and share interesting anecdotes. What caught the attention of Harry Potter fans was the absence of J.K Rowling.

Fans were disappointed to not see her in the trailer of the reunion special and even criticised the makers of Return To Hogwarts for not inviting her. Now, hours before the premiere of Return To Hogwarts, an international publication revealed the reason behind Rowling's absence. According to the publication, an invitation was sent to the author to participate in the reunion. However, her team reportedly told the makers that archived comments from the writer were adequate.

Earlier, it was being said that the makers of Return To Hogwarts were not keen on inviting Rowling to the reunion after her statements about trans people in June 2020 and the controversy swirling around them. Back then, the author was quick to react to the criticism and penned a blog defending her statements.

Harry Potter actors like Daniel and Emma came out in support of the trans community. In 2020, many fan pages dedicated to the franchise decided to distance themselves from the author for her 'transphobic' comments.
