'Freed Britney,' says Britney Spears as LA judge officially ends her 13-year-long conservatorship

After more than 13 years, a new beginning is on the horizon for pop star Britney Spears, who has been living under a restrictive conservatorship since 2008. Spears has been working in show business since childhood, as the 11-year-old star of The All-New Micky Mouse Club. In 2008, her father, Jamie Spears, placed her under the court-ordered arrangement.

However, after a long wait now, an LA judge has terminated the controversial guardianship that has controlled her life for the past 13 years, handing back her freedom along with control of a multi-million-dollar estate. The conservatorship is terminated effected November 12 (Friday). "Effective today... the conservatorship of the person and estate of Britney Jean Spears is hereby terminated. And that is the order of the court," said Judge Brenda Penny.

Britney celebrated her big win with an Instagram post that read, "Good God I love my fans so much it’s crazy !!! I think I’m gonna cry the rest of the day !!!! Best day ever … praise the Lord … can I get an Amen ???? #FreedBritney,"

The formal end to the guardianship comes after the pop star's father Jamie Spears was removed from his position in charge of her finances and estate at a hearing in September.
