Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint aka Ron Weasley has finally joined Instagram, and his first post has lit up the internet. His took the opportunity to share a picture with his newborn daughter and announce her name as well. The little girl is named Wednesday G.Grint. Rupert has amassed over two million followers with only one post.
Sharing the picture he captioned it, “Hey Instagram....only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert.” The picture shows the actor wearing a black T-shirt and a cap while his baby daughter is wearing pink and probably taking a nap in his arms.
Fans of the actor flooded his comments section with fun reactions and so did his Harry Potter co-stars Tom Felton and James Phelps. Tom who played the role of Draco Malfoy wrote, “Welcome Weasley , it’s about time. Love to Wednesday,” whereas Phelps who played Fred Weasley and Rupert’s older brother in the films wrotye, “Nougat.”
Many fans alluded to Harry Potter while commenting on Rupert’s post. One user wrote, “It’s inst’A’gram, not instagr’A’m,” making a reference to a similar exchange between Ron and Emma Watson's Hermione Granger, from the first film where the latter teaches him how to pronounce Wingardium Leviosa properly, “Weasley is our Kingggg!!” wrote another. Another user asked him whether he could persuade Daniel Radcliffe who played Harry Potter in the films to join Instagram as well.
Rupert and his long-time girlfriend Georgia Groome welcomed Wednesday in May. Their spokesperson had released a statement at their daughter’s birth that read, “Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are delighted to confirm the birth of their baby girl. We would please ask that you respect their privacy at this very special time.”
