Tom Hanks' elder sister reveals the Coronavirus infected star is ‘not great, but still OK’

Tom Hanks’ eldest sister Sandra Hanks Benoiton has given an update about the veteran Hollywood actor’s health after he was diagnosed positive for the Coronavirus. Sandra revealed that the actor is not doing great. Tom and his wife Rita Wilson were the first celebrities to go public with their diagnosis earlier this month. Reportedly, Tom and Rita were discharged from the hospital after a few days of isolation and are currently staying in a rented home in Australia.

During a recent interaction with a leading daily, Sandra said, “I have communicated with my brother. He's not great, but still OK.” She went on to shower praise on the medical team that took care of her brother and her sister-in-law. Asked if she was shocked by her brother's diagnosis, Sandra replied, "No. He's an actor, not a God (but) medical care in Australia is good." She herself is in lockdown in Italy currently.

Earlier this week, Tom had given a positive update about his health on social media. He had written, “Hey folks. Good news: One week after testing positive, in self-isolation, the symptoms are much the same. No fever but the blahs. Folding the laundry and doing the dishes leads to a nap on the couch. Bad news: my wife has won 6 straight hands of Gin Rummy and now leads by 201 points.”

The couple was in Australia for production of Baz Luhrmann’s untitled Elvis Presley biopic when they tested positive for the virus that has engulfed almost the entire world.
