Even before its re-release in the US, Avengers: Endgame has beaten James Cameron’s Avatar’s original box office record before the latter was re-released again. The 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe had made $2.75 billion (Rs 19025 crore) in the two months of its release. On the other hand, in its original theatrical run Avatar made $2.749 billion dollars (Rs 18957 crore) worldwide. When it re-released in 2010 it grossed $33 million more.

After Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avengers: Endgame has become the second-highest grossing film in the US as well as in India. In India, the film has had a fabulous run and crossed over Rs 300 crore within two weeks of its release. The re-release will have a post-credit scene that was not in the original theatrical cut. The film will also have a special tribute to Marvel’s creator Stan Lee who passed away last year.
