The nominations for the 91st Academy Awards 2019 were announced on Tuesday from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills in California by actors Kumail Nanjiani and Tracee Ellis Ross. The two films that lead the list with 10 nominations each are - Roma and The Favourite.
The critically acclaimed Netflix film Roma, set in Mexico and directed by Alfonso Cuaron, has been nominated in both Best Film and Best Foreign Film categories. It wasn't surprising to see Bradley Cooper in the Best Actor category for A Star Is Born, a film which has plenty of other nominations including Best Film and Best Actress for Lady Gaga.
Add to this, the Academy Awards this year are all set to honor popular movies such as Black Panther, which is the first superhero movie to land a best picture Oscar nomination.
