First Man trailer: Ryan Gosling as astronaut Neil Armstrong is riveting

One of the greatest achievements of mankind is now made into a film. Universal Studios released the first trailer for Neil Armstrong’s biopic First Man today. Armstrong became the first man to walk on the surface of the moon and got his name included in the annals of history for eons to come by achieving this feat. Now, Ryan Gosling will step into the astronaut’s shoes and bring the man’s epic journey to the silver screen. Directed by Academy Award winner director Damien Chazelle, the film is based on James Hansen’s book First Man: A Life of Neil A.Armstrong. Gosling and Chazelle reunite once again for the film after working in La La Land. Gosling as Armstrong is riveting in the trailer.

The trailer shows Gosling (playing Armstrong) entertaining the idea of becoming the first man to step on the moon. The trailer further shows his preparations for the final journey and the fact that it is not going to be a smooth ride. In order to accomplish the never-done-before task, Gosling has to master all the training posed by NASA in his way. In the course to attain his aim, he is also shown having a strained relationship with wife Janet (played by Claire Foy) who is scared of the mission that he has undertaken. The trailer grips you with the tension that it projects and one comes to understand the number of doubts and scares Armstrong and his family must have faced.

Armstrong was a World War II veteran who later became a test pilot. The film explores the toll, sacrifice and the cost the most dangerous mission of all times takes on him and his family. Apart from Gosling and Foy, the film stars Kyle Chandler, Corey Stoll, Pablo Schreiber, Ciaran Hinds, Lukas Haas, Jason Clarke, and Christopher Abbott. The film releases in October 2018.
