British makeup maestro Pat McGrath becomes the first MUA to receive Damehood from the Queen

British makeup maestro Pat McGrath is no new name to the fashion and beauty circuit and now we have all the more reasons to celebrate her so far. Starting 2021 with a bang, the makeup mogul announced a new royal title of Dame bestowed upon her by the queen. With this title, she became the first-ever makeup artist to have been awarded this honour by the Royals.

Announcing the same on her social media account, the elated beauty maverick and now a Dame, Pat expressed gratitude for such an honour. “I am beyond humbled that I have been awarded a Damehood in the Queen’s New Year 2021 Honours List as a D.B.E - Dame of the British Empire for Services to the Fashion and Beauty Industry and Diversity. Not in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that one day Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II would recognize me to be amongst the incredible recipients of this honour both past and present.” she captioned her post.

Affectionately called the ‘mother’ in the beauty biz, Pat launched her makeup line, ‘Pat McGrath Labs’ in 2015 and was included in Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People list in 2019. At the beginning of her career, she has collaborated with Edward Enninful, Steven Meisel and magazines like Vogue for its international covers. “When I first launched my brand, PAT McGRATH LABS, it was designed to inspire self-expression and individuality. I dedicate this honour in tribute to Makeup Artists everywhere, I adore each and every one of you,” she concluded.

Way to go Pat…upwards and onwards!
