It won’t be wrong to say that the New Year of 2021 started with a blazing fashion controversy. In the last week of December 2020, American fashion designer Alexander Wang was all over the news for his alleged ‘sexually abusive and substance- fueled’ behavior. It all started when an anonymous Instagram page, Shit Model Management brought forth the story of a male model Owen Mooney, who faced this incident in 2017. Fashion’s vigilante Diet Prada also let its voice to this cause and penned a strong-worded post accusing the designer.
Moments after this, the internet lashed out at the New York-based designer and supported the models who came out in the spotlight. Check out some of the tweets below:
BOYCOT ALEXANDERWANG. DON’T NEED THIS BEHAVIOUR IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY. AT ALL. #AlexanderWang

Im curious to see what @GiGiHadid @KendallJenner and other « wang girls » will say about this #AlexanderWang mess.
At this point it is really important that famous people use their privilege to speak up

After all this fiasco that was raging online, Alexander Wang finally broke his silence and issued a statement denying all the sexual accusations. In a statement issued to multiple websites and leading newspapers, Wang said, “Over the last few days, I have been on the receiving end of baseless and grotesquely false accusations. These claims have been wrongfully amplified by social media accounts infamous for posting defamatory material from undisclosed and/or anonymous sources with zero evidence or any fact-checking whatsoever," reported an online website, Fashionista.com.
"Seeing these lies about me being perpetuated as truths has been infuriating. I have never engaged in the atrocious behavior described and would never conduct myself in the manner that's been alleged," he continued. "I intend to get to the bottom of this and hold accountable whoever is responsible for originating these claims and viciously spreading them online," he continued. Diet Prada too, shared his statement with a caption, ‘Read the Room.’
Well, we wait to see what more new updates emerge on this one!
