PeepingMoon Exclusive: Amitabh Bachchan might attend the funeral of his old co-star and dear friend Rishi Kapoor

Even as news trickles in that Rishi Kapoor might be given a quiet and subdued funeral that can be attended by 20 people at the most, there is information that one man will just not be denied the privilege of saying goodbye to his old co-star, dear friend and relative by marriage.

Yes, Amitabh Bachchan has apparently expressed the fervent wish to attend Rishi’s cremation whenever and wherever it is held. The Mumbai Police, fearing a breakdown of the restrictions and regulations of the Covid-19 lockdown, is said to have advised the Kapoor Khandaan to have a small and private funeral for the veteran actor.

When really, considering Rishi’s huge fan base dating back from the 1970s and his considerable contribution to Indian cinema, the actor deserved a state funeral. But that will not be possible now. And co-stars, friends, extended family, producers and directors who worked with him, and his fans too, will not be able to pay their homage to the great actor.

However, Amitabh Bachchan who worked with Rishi in six films (Kabhi Kabhie, Amar Akbar Anthony, Naseeb, Coolie, Ajooba and 102 Not Out) and has been his close friend may just be the exception. The two are also related because Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter Shweta married Rishi’s nephew Nikhil Nanda (his sister Rima’s son).
