Indian singer Rekha Bhardwaj achieved a turning point in her career with the song 'Namak' from the 2006 film 'Omkara'. The song gave a new direction to her life and brought her musical journey back on track. Recently, Rekha recalled her days of struggle when it became difficult for her to get work.
Rekha told News18 that the song 'Namak' helped her rediscover that naughty and fun-loving side of her. She said, “When I was first asked to sing this song, I had almost lost my confidence. But Vishal Bhardwaj believed in me. One night he heard my recording and said, ‘Only you can sing this song.’ This inspired me again. I was not getting much work at that time, but that song helped me recognize my talent.”
Rekha also shared her views on item songs. She says that she has no objection to singing item songs, but if that song is devoid of beauty and dignity, then she would not like to sing it. She said, “This does not mean that I am ready to sing everything. Item songs are also a part of our cultural expression, but how they are presented is important. A song can be attractive, but it should also have dignity. Like in Lata Mangeshkar's 'Aa Jaane Jaan', there was such respect and not vulgarity.”
Rekha Bhardwaj is a respected voice in the music world. He has shown the magic of his voice in many memorable songs. His popular songs include 'Hamari Aartiyan Pe', 'Mor Jiya Lage Na', 'Kabira' etc., which always hold a special place in the hearts of music lovers.
