Har Din Filmy: Netflix shares sneak peek of Tabu's Khufiya, Babil I Khan's Qala, Rajkummar Rao's 'Monica, O My Darling', Zoya Akhtar's 'Archies' & more!

Netflix India announced 8 new titles today for their giant streaming platform. At their event in Mumbai, incredible storytellers and beloved actors took the media members on a journey across their upcoming films. The OTT platform shared exclusive sneak peeks at its first-ever film showcase. Netflix followed their tagline - Har Din Filmy - starting with this memorable Filmy Din.

Set in the 1960s, musical drama Archies is being directed by Zoya Akhtar and headlined by an exciting fresh ensemble.  The film will feature Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Yuvraj Menda, Agastya Nanda and Vedang Raina in key roles. The 7 young actors will play the beloved characters from the hugely popular Archie Comics.

CHAKDA XPRESS

Anushka Sharma is all set to make her return to the movies with Netflix's Chakda Xpress, inspired by the life and times of India’s most decorated women cricketer Jhulan Goswami. A fast bowler, Goswami holds the world record for the highest number of wickets in an international career. Chakda Xpress traces Jhulan’s inspirational journey as she moves up the ladder despite the hindrances posed by misogynistic politics to fulfill her dream of playing cricket for India.

After the tremendous success of the visual masterpiece Bulbbul, Netflix has once again joined hands with the creative powerhouse Clean Slate Filmz (Anushka Sharma and Karnesh Ssharma’s production house) and director Anvitaa Dutt. Netflix revealed a teaser of Qala starring Tripti Dimri, the lead actor in Bulbbul who swept hearts and accolades with her performance, along with Babil I. Khan. The film marks Babil’s debut and also stars Swastika Mukherjee.

Netflix today dropped the motion poster of its much anticipated satire Kathal, starring Sanya Malhotra, Anant Joshi, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav and Neha Saraf. The film is a dramedy, set in a small town and centers around a young police officer, Mahima, played by Sanya Malhotra who is adamant to solve a bizarre case of missing jackfruit (kathal) belonging to a local politician. Kathal is the directorial debut of Yashowardhan Mishra, who wrote the film along with the veteran, award-winning writer Ashok Mishra.

Riteish Deshmukh is all set to star with Tamannaah Bhatia for the quirky romantic Netflix film, Plan A Plan B. The film will premiere on September 30. The streaming service released a short teaser and announced the release date for the upcoming movie during its Films Day event on Monday. Directed by Shashanka Ghosh and written by Rajat Arora, the film also stars veteran actor Poonam Dhillon and popular influencer Kusha Kapila. According to the official synopsis, the film is about a match-maker and a divorce attorney, and what happens when they fall in love.

Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal have teamed up for the suspense thriller titled Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga, streaming service Netflix. Directed by Ajay Singh, the movie traces the story of a heist that goes wrong when a plane gets hijacked. It also features Sharad Kelkar. Yami plays a flight attendant in the film while Sunny is a passenger onboard the flight.

Vishal Bharadwaj-directed Khufiya will be released soon on Netflix. It features Tabu and Ali Fazal in lead roles. In a glimpse from the movie, the intensity is palpable. Vishal, known for movies like Haider, Omkara and Maqbool among others is directing for the first time for a streamer. The mystery-thriller looks intriguing at its first look.

Rajkummar Rao, Huma Qureshi and Radhika Apte star in Vasan Bala's directorial Monica, O My Darling. It will be Rajkummar's second Netflix film, after The White Tiger. Some teaser stills were released from the upcoming film this morning on Netflix's social media accounts.
