World Mental Health Day 2021: Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra talks to Deepika Padukone, reveals his mother had predicted his victory

October 10 is celebrated as World Mental Health Day. On this occasion, actress and mental health advocate, Deepika Padukone, released her latest project- Lecture Series 2021. For the unversed, Lecture Series is an initiative of Deepika's foundation, Live Love Laugh, that works towards creating mental health awareness. She spoke to Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra in the episode of the series.

Deepika, who started the Lecture Series in 2019, spoke to Abhinav, who shared his own personal experiences. Right from recalling their childhood to facing failure, seeking professional help for their mental health concerns, the actress delivered a wonderful session with the Beijing Olympics gold medalist. At a point, Deepika said she has learnt more from failure than success. On the other hand, Abhinav revealed the first thing he told his coach after his victory. He had expressed his desire to never shoot again because it had "taken a lot out of him."

While talking to Deepika, Abhinav revealed that his mother had predicted that he'll bring home a gold medal. "She comes up to me and I was grumpy and almost in tears and she comes up to me and says, ‘The most you could have won today was silver or bronze but you are gonna win a gold medal in 4 years time.’ I just shut up. Four years later it actually happened so never argue with a mother’s instinct." Deepika was surprised and that's when Abhinav said, "Never argue with mother’s instinct."

Before Deepika took over the Lecture Series, her younger sister Anisha Padukone introduced the audience to the concept of the series as well as shared some information about the Live Love Laugh foundation which was started in 2015.
