'He just hugged me,' Meezaan talks about father Jaaved Jaaferi's reaction to his debut film 'Malaal'

Veteran actor Jagdeep's grandson and Bollywood actor/dancer Jaaved Jaaferi's son Meezaan recently made his Bollywood debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's production film Malaal co-starring Sharmin Segal. The film failed to impress the audience and critics but it did teach the young lad several things. Recently, Meezaan opened up about his debut film, his father's reaction to it and how he loved working with SLB.

The actor cherished the opportunity to work with Bhansali so closely. “All that I’ve learnt as an artist is from him. The one-and-a-half-year that I spent working on Padmaavat was like attending a film school. He’s a one-man army. He does his own music, costumes and probably choreographs the songs as well," Meezaan said.

When asked about his father's reaction, he said, “Dad was moved by my performance though he didn’t say much. He just hugged me. And that hug said it all.”

Meezan has inherited his father’s fondness for dance but insists his approach is different. “Dad is contemporary and proper. While I’ve never learnt dance. I just like to enjoy myself,” he grinned. He’s grown up on enriching film stories shared by his grandfather Jagdeep. “Regardless of who you become, you should never change as a person. That’s something I’ve learnt from my granddad,” he mentioned.

Coming back to Malaal, the film did win him a lot of female fans. “Yes, I’m happy to have a lot of female fans. Weirdly enough, there’s a lot of male attention as well, especially on Instagram,” he laughed adding, “It’s a good thing. I can’t complain at all. I’m humbled. I hope it keeps growing.”
