'Mission Mangal script was designed with Akshay Kumar at the centre,' says debutant director Jagan Shakti

As Mission Mangal is finally out for the audience to enjoy, the director of the film Jagan Shakti, is probably on cloud nine right now. Jagan, who made his directorial debut with Mission Mangal, has managed to put forth a stellar cast of Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen and Kirti Kulhari together and tied their characters around with a brilliant narrative and compelling script. The director, who started off with assisting filmmakers like R Balki and AR Murugadoss, just like the lead actors, was keeping busy with back to back interviews scheduled for the promotions. And during one such interview, he was quizzed on the difficulties faced while roping in an ensemble cast. In response to this, he disclosed that the script was sketched keeping Akshay in mind. After his role was shaped up, the rest of the characters were developed. He added that every person in the story reflects the society and has a good reason to be in the film. Thanking Akshay, Jagan said if a script matches the liking of the actor, he is willing to collaborate yet again.

“Our script was designed with Akshay sir at the centre, he gets the team in place. Then, we wrote characters with back stories, like there’s one who is married with a grown-up child, while another’s husband is in the hospital. Every character reflects our society and has a good reason to be in the film. While presenting a film to actors of this stature, it is important to have meaty parts for everyone. I am grateful that a superstar like him agreed to work with me. If a script suits him, I’ll go to him again," Jagan told.
