I was pinched on my butt in the middle of a group: Kangana shares her harassment story

In the wake of the MeToo movement in India, Kangana Ranaut has shared her harrowing experience of harassment and told a leading daily that she was violated in a crowd at one point in time.

"I was pinched on my butt in the middle of a group and that person was right there, looking at me. It was not even sexual, it was like ‘I did exactly what I was not supposed to do’. And looking me in the eye like ‘what are you going to do now?’ So, what do you expect?," Kangana told the daily.

Moreover, Kangana also said that girls should be informed about a few rules and asked to approach authorities and people concerned, who can help them whenever required.

"I think somewhere we should tell the girls that there are a few rules. Don't say ‘maybe,’ when you want to say ‘no’, it's important. Your safety doesn’t mean you can do Taekwondo and karate. It also means you go to someone who can save you; it may be a teacher, an uncle you trust, a friend, or the Mumbai Police, or go to the media, find a journalist and expose them. So, to tell them this and then get severely trolled for it, is horrible," Kangana added.

After making quite an impact in the West, the MeToo wave swept into Bollywood and beyond, following Tanushree Dutta recounting an unpleasant episode in September with veteran actor Nana Patekar on the sets of Horn ‘OK’ Pleassss in 2008.

The #MeToo movement has exposed several celebrities with women coming out to name and shame the offenders. Celebrities like Rajkumar Hirani, Vikas Bahl, Chetan Bhagat, Gursimran Khamba, Kailash Kher, Rajat Kapoor, Alok Nath, Anu Malik and Sajid Khan have been named and shamed for using their positions to exploit the vulnerable.

Kangana Ranaut, meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of her new film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, scheduled for January 25.
