Television actress Mohena Kumari Singh, who got married to Suyesh Rawat, recently shared an image from her wedding to wish her fans Happy New Year. In the picture, the actress is seen hiding her face in ghoonghat. She is accompanied with her parents, husband and his parents.
She captioned the picture as, "Wish you all a Happy New Year from the Rewa and Rawat Family with a message to spread Love , Peace , feeling of Unity , Happiness and good health to the World and our Country. #fromustoyou," (sic)
Soon after, netizens targeted her for covering her face in a veil. One user wrote, "Why is your face under veil?" another one replied, "because these are people who follow the so called male dominated rituals. Even education doesn't get them a brain." This conversation didn't go down well with Mohena.
She lashed out at the two and wrote, "Even Christians have a veil when they marry...and so do Muslims...I guess they are all uneducated too! It's an age old Rajput tradition which Rajput women follow when they get married. This was not forced upon me...I chose to do it,” (sic)

Mohena tied the knot with Suyesh on October 14 in Dehradun. The couple threw grand receptions in Mohena's hometown Rewa and in Delhi, which was attended by several renowned personalities including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On work front, Mohena rose to fame as Kirti from serial Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.
