Box Office: Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh crosses Rs 200 crore mark, emerges as the biggest hit of his career

Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh has taken the country by storm, raking in a mighty Rs 200 crore at the box-office, with the actor celebrating the biggest hit of his career. While Shahid has consistently been a critic favorite, Kabir Singh has been hailed his finest performance so far. The blockbuster even surpassed the lifetime collections of the original Arjun Reddy, in just two days, even breaking the release day collections of the actor's previous hit Padmaavat.

The floods, cricket fever and the fact that the film released on a non-holiday weekend didn't stop it from crossing the coveted Rs 200 crore mark in less than two weeks. Going by the trade verdict, the film continues to go strong at the box office and has a long run ahead of it, showing potential of hitting the Rs 300 crore mark.

Interestingly, Vicky Kaushal's URI: The Surgical Strike was the biggest hit this year but Kabir Singh will supercede its numbers within the next few weeks. "Ranveer Singh's solo hit Simmba collected more than Rs 240 crore, while Varun Dhawan's Judwaa 2 closed at Rs 139 crore. With Kabir Singh, we have a clear winner on our hands as Shahid is making the biggest impact this year," pointed put trade guru Taran Adarsh

Comments Vajir Singh, Editor of Box Office India, "It's complete Shahid mania. Kabir Singh and the actor's powerhouse performance in the film is what everyone is talking about. It's been a while since a film has made this big an impact." Added Amul Vikas Mohan, "The numbers so far have been phenomenal and going by the momentum the film is looking at having a dream run in the next 2-3 weeks. It crossed Padmaavat's opening day figure and may just cross it's lifetime collection as well. Apart from receiving rave reviews, Kabir Singh has surpassed the collections of hit films in recent times including Kesari, Gully Boy, Total Dhamaal, Luka Chuppi and there are no signs of it stopping anytime soon".

Helmed by Sandeep Vanga Reddy, Kabir Singh hit the theatres on June 21.
