Bharat box office Day 1: Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer witnesses a bumper opening; set to become the biggest opener of 2019

It would not be wrong to say that Eid has become synonymous with Salman Khan releases. This year, Salman gave the perfect 'Eidi' to his fans with his film Bharat, helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar and starring Katrina Kaif as the female lead. Now as per early estimates, the film has witnessed around Rs 43-45 crore nett on day 1, making Bharat the second highest collection of all time for a Hindi film after Thugs Of Hindostan, as reported by a trade website. Although the big cricket match between India and South Africa in the ongoing World Cup 2019 may have affected a collections a little, the film has managed to get a bumper opening as it released in 4700 screens across India.

What's more? Bharat has registered the highest opening day collection ever for a Salman  starrer beating the numbers of 2015 Diwali release, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which had earned Rs 39.32 crore on day one. Undoubtedly, the credit for such high numbers on day one goes to Salman's star power. In fact, Bharat can benefit from the extended long weekend and might collect over Rs 100 crore nett plus in the first three days. It seems Salman has once again struck gold with his Eid offering.
