Times's 100 Most Influential List features Dwayne Johnson, Taylor Swift and Arundhati Katju-Maneka Guruswamy; Priyanka Chopra writes the profile for Indian LGBTQ activists

Dwayne Johnson and Taylor Swift made it to the Time magazine’s The 100 Most Influential People list. Dwayne shared the news through his Instagram handle in a detailed post and wrote that he honoured and grateful to the magazine for including his name in the esteemed list. His foreword was written by Gal Gadot, who wrote, “He is the true embodiment of the idea that people may forget what you said, people may forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

On the other hand, Taylor also got her place in the sun. She was described by Shawn Mendes as, “The magic of Taylor Swift doesn’t come from the lights, dancers or fireworks (although all of that is incredible) but from the electrifying connection that she has with the people who are there to see her.”

Priyanka Chopra Jonas who is a TIME’s 100 Most-Influential People recipient herself, wrote a powerful message for public-interest litigators, Arundhati Katju and Menaka Guruswamy who fought tooth-and-nail to have the outdated Section 377 decriminalized in India. Their efforts bore fruit and last year the Supreme Court of India decriminalized Section 377 that had made homosexuality a criminal offense, giving freedom to countless of people across the country to live their life according to their choices. The TIMe magazine acknowledged their efforts and made sure they get the international recognition by including them in the list as well.

Priyanka wrote, “An outdated legacy of the British colonization of India, Section 377 rendered all sexual activities “against the order of nature” punishable by law. This landmark judgment, overturning a 157-year-old law, was the outcome of a long-term campaign orchestrated by two amazing public-interest litigators, Arundhati Katju and Menaka Guruswamy. The fight has been hard. The LGBTQ+ community has battled on both legal and social fronts for decades-for their fundamental rights, for privacy, for dignity, for safety and for love. Arundhati and Menaka have helped take a giant step for LGBTQ+ rights in the world’s largest democracy. In their committed fight for justice, they have shown us that we as a society must continue to make progress, even after laws are changed, and that we must make an effort to understand, accept and love.” Priyanka had previously featured in the list as well and Dwayne had written her profile with whom she starred in her first Hollywood film Baywatch.
