After the nominations at the 49th International Emmy Award, Netflix celebrates with more nominations at the Asia Contents Awards, a commitment by the Busan International Film Festival, South Korea, that recognizes outstanding productions and talented individuals from the Asia region. The anthology series Ray and film Ajeeb Dastaans bagged 4 nominations in total, Best Original OTT series, Best Actor, Best Actress and Technical Achievement.
Ray, an anthology series about revolutionary filmmaker, auteur, and the creator of the iconic Feluda series, Satyajit Ray, who is also celebrated for writing some of the best short stories India has ever seen, has been nominated for Best Original OTT series and Technical Achievement. Ali Fazal playing the character of Ipsit Nair, who was widely appreciated by the audience and critics in Ray’s episode called ‘Forget Me Not,' received the nomination for Best Actor. Furthermore, Nushrratt Bharruccha who plays Meenal, a house help from the anthology film ‘Ajeeb Dastaans’ bowled audiences over with her performance and has been nominated in the Best Actress category.
Talking about the nomination, Ali said, “I am humbled to receive the nomination for Best Actor and it means a lot to be recognized by Asia Contents Awards. Being recognised on a Global stage for it, is just so overwhelming. I am ecstatic to be nominated by Busan International Film Festival 2021 for its 3rd Asia Contents Awards. So honoured to see my name alongside other talented actors from different countries. This nomination gives me more impetus to follow my calling with renewed fervour to do what I love everyday! I am grateful to the team Ajeeb Daastaans and also to Netflix for carrying stories like this and introducing characters like Meenal to viewers across the world."
