Rashmi Rocket: Taapsee Pannu burns the track as she fights the system in a hard-hitting trailer

The trailer of Taapsee Pannu’s highly anticipated film Rashmi Rocket is finally here. The film also stars Priyanshu Painyuli, Abhishek Banerjee and Supriya Pathak in pivotal roles and sees Taapsee as an athlete who dreams of winning international athletic contests.

The trailer shows Taapsee in the role of a sprinter who has been banned due to an unreasonable test that puts a question mark on her being a woman. However, she does not let it come her way and fights for justice against the sports association and the system that unnecessarily harass the players who work so hard to represent the country in international sporting events. In the journey to fulfilling her dreams, she soon realizes that the race to the finish line is peppered with many hurdles, and what seems like an athletic contest turns into her personal battle for respect, honour, and even her very identity.

In her quest for justice, she is helped by Abhishek Banerjee who plays a lawyer and Priyanshu Painyulli who plays her soldier husband. The trailer shows the grit, determination and hard work of Taapsee who toiled to showcase the body and caliber of an athlete. Rashmi Rocket is directed by Akarsh Khurana and is produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Neha Anand, and Pranjal Khandhdiya. The film will have a direct-to-digital release on Zee5 on October 15.

Producer Ronnie Screwvala said, “So many immensely talented youth do not reach their full potential or even have opportunities owing to the obstacles the system and society throw at them. RASHMI ROCKET is one such example of someone who overcame those hurdles and faced those obstacles head on. It’s a story of resilience, determination and above all the fighting human spirit.”

Pranjal Khandhdiya of Mango People Media said, “While several films have been made on sports, RASHMI ROCKET, isn’t just about struggles on the field, but in life; struggles that women in the sports arena continue to face. The story needed to be brought to life with great sensitivity and craft and who better than Taapsee to take on the challenge.”
