Ali Fazal reveals he backed out of 'Mirzapur' initially after being offered Munna's role, says 'I was stuck on Guddu'

Ali Fazal, who recently impressed the audience with his role of Guddu Bhaiya in Mirzapur 2, has shared how he was initially offered the role of Munna and not Guddu Bhaiya and because of that, he had even turned down the opportunity of being a part of this incredible show that we have all come to love.

While talking to a magazine, Ali shared how even while reading the script when approached for the role of Munna, he was stuck on the character of Guddu Bhaiyya. "I was stuck on Guddu. I was offered another part initially. I think it was Munna’s part, which Divyenndu has done. At that time, I was so invested in Guddu because I felt like there was so much I could bring to it,” Ali said.

Ali Fazal also revealed that he made up an excuse for having no dates to shoot Mirzapur as a reason to reject the role of Munna. "I really like parts that are unpredictable to me. If I can figure out the entire journey in my head, then it’s no fun. There won’t be any teamwork because I am not the only person. So I made an excuse. I said I don’t have dates, something has come up. So I left. Then I got a call back later saying that we want to see, let’s try this,” Ali added.

Mirzapur season 2 released on October 23, 2020 and received good reviews from critics.
