Amid backlash, makers of Ananya Panday's-Ishaan Khatter's Khaali Peeli to re-write song 'Beyonce Sharma Jayegi' to avoid legal repercussions?

The song Beyonce Sharma Jayegi from Ananya Panday and Ishaan Khatter's Khaali Peeli opened to negative response. The makers of the upcoming thriller have been at the receiving end and are being slammed for the song's racist undertone. Netizens have raised objection over the line- tujhe dekh ke goriya, Beyonce sharma jayegi. Now, as the backlash continues, a report of a leading daily has it that the production house had apparently not sought Beyonce's permission to use her trademarked name. A source close to the development informed the daily that the team is reportedly planning to rewrite the song's lyrics to avoid legal hassles.

"Beyoncé has not only trademarked her name, but also won a long legal battle to copyright daughter Blue Ivy's name. In a pre-emptive move, the makers are now planning to rewrite the song to avoid legal repercussions. A final call will be taken this week. With the dance number being called out for racism, it will be an unwise move to take on an international star like Beyoncé, especially at a time when the Black Lives Matter movement has set the stage for equality," the source told.
