Menacing villain to powerful protagonists, 5 reasons why Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapur's Sadak 2 trailer is a thrilling roller coaster ride

Veteran Bollywood director Mahesh Bhatt is all set to return to direction after a sabbatical of 20 years with Sadak 2. The film, which is the continuation of his 1991 romantic thriller, features Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Pooja Bhatt in the lead roles. Amid much anticipation, the trailer of Sadak 2 was released today.

Promising to be a thrilling roller coaster ride, Sadak 2 takes place 29 years after the events of Sadak. It orbits around Ravi (Sanjay), Aryaa (Alia) and Vishal (Aditya) who are on the sadak to discovering dark secrets of a menacing Godman while avenging the loss of a dear one. In pursuit of justice, Aryaa, Ravi and Vishal endanger their lives when the Godman makes up his mind to kill the young girl for crossing his path. The story will also delve deeper into what happened to Pooja in between Sadak and Sadak 2.

With 16 days to go for Sadak 2’s digital premiere, here are the five key factors that make the trailer a thrilling watch.

Thrilling narrative

Sadak revolved around how Ravi, a taxi driver rescued Pooja, a young innocent girl from the custody of an evil transgender pimp- Maharani (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) who runs a brothel. Going along the same lines, Ravi, this time, has taken the charge of protecting Aryaa from a Godman. More than a taxi-driver who drives down her and Vishal to Kailash Parvat, Ravi shields them against all possible dangers as he did for Pooja.

Stellar cast

Sadak 2 is a perfect blend of veteran actors and young stars. While Makarand Deshpande, a renowned name in Hindi and Marathi cinema/theatres battles against Gen-Y talents Alia and Aditya, it will surely be a treat for avid cinema lovers. Sanjay, in the trailer, appears to be in his top form. With Gulshan Grover, Jisshu Sengupta, Priyanka Bose, Akshay Anand and Mohan Kapur in supporting roles, Sadak 2 is home to talented performers.

Strong villains

While there is no Maharani in Sadak 2, but the Godman is no less. Dressed in black, he is pure evil who has no mercy. Holding a mirror to the reality of the self-styled Godman culture, Makarand Deshpande is set to give Alia’s Aryaa sleepless nights. It will be interesting to see how a powerful and determined Aryaa fights a battle against an equally strong-headed person who fears none.

Reunion of lovers

In Sadak, Ravi reunited with Pooja after he is released from the jail. Similarly, Aryaa and Vishal reunite with a tight hug after the latter steps out of the prison (according to the trailer). The history shall repeat itself!

Music

Music has been the highlight of every Mukesh Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt film. Sadak 2 is no different. While the jukebox is yet to be released, the song Ishq Kamal that appeared in the trailer has left behind a strong impact. Blending perfectly with the story and overall feel, Sadak 2’s song will definitely be a part of everyone’s playlist.

With a 29-year-leap, the trailer of Sadak 2 promises the same flavour offered by its predecessor. While some factors retain the similar essence, there are new angles that will surely keep one hooked. All eyes on August 28, 2020, on Disney+Hotstar!
